The Bronx Zoo

Resurrecting New York’s premiere prehistoric attraction.

The Bronx Zoo is one of the world’s most iconic visitation sites. Yet, not enough people are visiting. They feel that they have “already done” the zoo; that things worth doing are happening in Manhattan; and that the weather is often unpredictable and unfavorable.

A new experience was needed to help drive attendance and increase membership. One that was original, unexpected and offered an intimate experience. With this in mind, the Bronx Zoo came to Six+One to help launch their latest exhibit; The Dinosaur Safari.

Our answer was a campaign built around the theme, “Make your day prehistoric.” Our messages promise visitors the ultimate escape, from mundane grinds of the concrete jungle to the hair-raising life of the prehistoric jungle. And in keeping with the spirit of the Bronx Zoo as a place that educates, our campaign highlights how dinosaurs are very much like animals that live on our planet today.

Bringing Dinosaurs Back to Life

We worked with a 3D modeling studio to create a suite of dinosaurs for use in our creative materials. In the process, we were hand in hand with The Bronx Zoo’s paleontologists to ensure each dinosaur was historically accurate.

It’s Coming…

We kicked off the Dinosaur Safari campaign by inviting a select few influencers to take a trip back in time for a fun, family filled time amongst dinosaurs. The influencers were sent wooden cargo boxes with the teaser headline, “IT’S COMING 4.19.19” and the Dinosaur Safari logo stamped on it. Inside each box were dinosaur fossils, a paleontologist kit, stickers, pins and an invite with tickets for the whole family.

For their Halloween event, we leveraged the dinosaur assets we created for a fun, spooky twist on the original campaign.
